Glass Floor for an Outdoor Deck
Glass Floor is one of the many applications of this beautiful material, mostly used in commercial settings. On this page we wanted to showcase an amazing project completed by our team.
Triple laminated tempered glass
This is an addition to the residential house covering the basement walk up and also serving as a deck. Each piece of glass is 12 feet long; it is three layers of 1/2″ thick glass tempered for safety and sandwiched together with heavy duty outdoor laminate.
Structural steel support
It all starts with a very strong support structure to support the weight of the glass. The customer opted for a structural steel welded frame. Each piece of glass is 1 1/2″ thick and weighs approximately 600 pounds.
This project is complemented with frameless glass guard rails around the patio. The glass floor is extremely strong and can hold a lot of weight.
Setting the glass with a crane
Large sandwiched glass pieces are extremely heavy, so we had to use a crane for this project to carry the glass to the backyard and safely set it in place.
